ఆయిల్ పాం మొక్కలను ప్రతి హెక్టారుకి 143 మొక్కలు లేదా ఎకరానికి 57 మొక్కలు చొప్పున 9 మీ దూరంలో త్రికోణాకార పద్దతిలో నాటుకోవాలి.

నర్సరీ నుండి రవాణా చేసిన ఆయిల్ పాం మొక్కలను పొలములో వెంటనే నాటుకోవాలి. రోజుల తరబడి నాటకుండా నిల్వ చేయరాదు. ఆయిల్ పాం లో  2,4-డి, 2,4,5-టి వంటి కలుపు మందులను వాడరాదు. ఇవి పామాయిల్ పై దుష్ప్రభావం చూపుతాయి. 

Oil palm can be planted in any season of the year with adequate irrigation facility, best period would be June to December.

Plant oil palm seedlings in a pit having 2 feet length, 2 feet breadth and 2 feet depth.

While planting oil palm 400 grams of Single Super Phosphate, 50 grams phorate and one basket of farm yard manure are mixed and applied in the soil of the pit.

Oil palm seedlings of 1 - 1.3 m height, 12 - 14 months of age and having 13 functional leaves are preferable for planting.

Plant 143 oil palm plants per hectare or 57 palms per acre in hexagonal method with a spacing of 9 meter.

Do not store oil palm seedlings for days together in main field after their transport from nursery. Planting should be done immediately for better growth.

If oil palm is to be cultivated in black soil, drainage facility should be created by adding one truck of red soil (or) one truck sand in pits, before planting. It will facilitate good growth of palm to get good yield.

Oil palm can be cultivated in almost all types of soils. Best suited soils are well drained, deep loamy alluvial, rich in organic matter with adequate water holding capacity.
